I had a colleague at work who is raving about Chile-Tepin. Sometimes with such high expectations, you were a little, but none of us were disappointed. Lots of great options on the menu and everything was delicious. Most opted for the fajitas, which were absolutely delicious or a combo platter, which was perfect. The service was wonderful. The ambience is amazing definitely five stars and worth trying.

This place is consistently great. Even the sides are delicious and seem to be thoughtfully prepared.

Visiting from out of town, we hit this place up on a Friday night. It was busy which was to be expected for a Friday night. Being from CA, we're spoiled with good latin food. This place did not disappoint! Food and service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. The ambience was great. I ordered the carne asada dinner entree. Flavor was great, meat was tender and belly was full! We'll definitely be back while in town in the future!

Opening weekend of Les Misérables at the Eccles and therefore date night with my wife. Les Mis and Chili-Tepin. great night out. Great food, nice atmosphere and great location downtown only minutes from the theatre. A little history about the name and why some of their food has such a delicious smokey kick to it. The Chile-Tepin Pepper Our namesake is the chile-tepin pepper. As the only wild chile native to the U.S., the chile-tepin is very small in size and has an extremely pungent flavor with a distinctive, smoky bite. It is rated very hot, 8-9 on a scale of 10. At Chile-Tepin we use this beautiful little wild-harvested pepper in many of our sauces and dishes. Our go to is to share Parrillada, which gives a little bit of everything and easily big enough to share. It comes with grilled steak, shrimp and chicken, with a grilled onion, jalapeño pepper, chili-tepin sauce, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and flour and corn tortillas with melted cheese in them. And is so good. 5/5 Not sure why, as there was too much food for us both, but we also tried the Queso Fundido, melted cheese you can put in a tortilla. It was so tasty. 5/5 We were told there would be no wait before 5:30pm on a Saturday, but showed up at 5:00 pm to a twenty minute wait. They do not accept reservations.

Came on a Saturday night before the JT concert. Definitely packed out there were 8 of us and it was a 45 min wait. Not too bad went by quick with friends times flies! We got seated and I must have missed the part where there are no menus.. it was all of our first time there and we felt confused. I don't like when restaurants do this but understand maybe it's easier for them. I immediately said oh we need to scan the QR code. Chips and salsa were brought. Yes please! Super good chips tasted home made and salsa had the perfect kick. The waiter was kind and he immediately asked if it was separate check. We said yes and he was on it. Super nice about it too! I ordered two item dinners with a carne asada taco and chicken fluata Our drinks and food came out quick. Carne asada taco was really good! Actual steak slices! Fluata was also really good. Chicken was season perfectly. Rice and beans were good . I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! Is it packed yes! But it's worth it. You also can't beat the prices! My friends ordered Mocajete and shared between more then 2 people and they all said it was delicious Others ordered chimichanga and also said it was super good! I want to bring my husband back

Margaritas were great. They made parking relatively easy downtown. If you're looking for pretty good Mexican fare in a more upscale but not too upscale this is a great place. I'd come back and bring friends. It's a lively atmosphere and you have to make a reservation on Friday and Saturday nights.

My husband and I are always on the lookout for New Mexican restaurants. We usually aren't downtown but today we braved the Summer heat and walked a few blocks to try out Chile-Tepin. The restaurant was super clean and air conditioned. It almost looks like it set is in a well lit office building but they decorate the exterior with live cactus plants. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Thursday night and the food was amazing. We started off with carne asada nachos which are a meal in themselves. And very quickly after we had our full order on the table. (We had to take about half the food to go) the sauce was my favorite part. A lot of restaurants can make great meat but the sauce at chile-tepid sets them apart; Nothing bitter and everything well balanced and full of flavor. This restaurant deserves to be named among the greats in Salt lake, we will be coming back!

Came solo on a Thursday and not very crowded. Mind you I arrived at 430 lol Started with chips and salsa. The salsa was good but definitely had a spicy kick to it!! Got the carne asada it came with rice and beans. The beans was not that great. A lot of liquid and I think it had hot dogs in it, not my jam. Rice was tasty. The beef was a bit overcooked and chewy but had good flavor.
